Can you tell us the “backstory” about why or how you got started as a podcaster?

When I started bodybuilding, I didn’t have Youtube or podcasts, or even social media to help me with my nutrition or training. Since I had to learn everything on my own, I’ve always sought outlets to help reach more and more people with a health-focused approach to bodybuilding and strength training. Starting a podcast was just one other way I could reach someone that may not have Youtube or other mainstream social media.

Can you share a story about the most interesting thing that has happened to you since you started podcasting?

It has allowed me also to be a guest on other popular podcasts shows. I have also be flown to different countries and states to host seminars by promoters who have become fans of my podcast.

Can you share a story about the biggest or funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

Don’t be in a rush. Make sure that you have a checklist, so you don’t forget important things like publishing your podcast episode. Yes, I have forgotten to publish an episode.

How long have you been podcasting and how many shows have you aired?

I have been podcasting for almost two years. Hard to believe it’s been that long. We are up to 80 episodes.

What are the main takeaways or lessons you want your listeners to walk away with?

There is no end to our health, fitness, and longevity evolution. You can always be better, stronger, smarter, and healthier.

Podcaster Influencer, Kris Gethin of The Knowledge and Mileage Podcast shares the best ways to:

1) Book Great Guests. Be genuinely interested in the other person and what they have to share. If you invite someone onto your show, it’s about them, not about you.

2) Increase Listeners. Post your podcast on as many channels as possible. Don’t limit yourself to just audio either, put your podcast on Youtube. So many podcasters forget that they have that available to them.

3) Produce in a Professional Way. If you’re on a budget, just make sure your audio is good. Don’t worry about fancy microphones or recorders; just find the quietest place to record and you should be fine.

4) Encourage Engagement. Get creative about how people reach out to you. Do you have a phone number they can text or a voicemail box they can leave you messages on? Think outside of the norm.

5) Monetize Your Show. Connect with brands that you actually use and stand behind 100% and make sure it has some correlation with the topic of your podcast.

What makes your podcast binge-listenable? What do you think makes your podcast unique from the others in your category? What do you think is special about you as a host, your guests, or the content itself?
